Terms of service

Version 1.2 · Updated 20 October 2026

01The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Bytefount Limited, a company registered in Kenya, of The View, General Mathenge Road, Spring Valley, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya (postal address: P.O. Box 48620-00100, Nairobi, Kenya), for your use of Vantage by Bytefount. By creating a workspace or using the service you accept them. If you use it for an organisation, you accept on its behalf and confirm you may do so. Vantage by Bytefount is for business use.

02The service

Vantage by Bytefount is a hosted analytics service. You load data from files and connected sources into a workspace, model it, and build metrics, dashboards and queries on it. We host the data warehouse and semantic layer for you.

Bytefount Limited owns Vantage by Bytefount and all intellectual property in it. These terms give you the right to use the service while your workspace is active; they do not transfer any of that ownership to you.

03Accounts and workspaces

The person who creates a workspace is its owner and can invite members and set their roles. Keep your sign-in credentials safe and tell us at support@bytefount.com if you think someone else has used them. You are responsible for what happens in your workspace, including what the members you invite do there.

04Your data

The data you load, and the dashboards and queries you build on it, stay yours. You give us permission to host, copy and process it only to provide the service to you, as our Privacy policy describes. We are the processor of that data and you are the controller; you confirm you have the right to load it and to have us process it. You can export your data and delete it from the app, and ask us to close the workspace and delete everything.

By turning AI on, a workspace owner or admin, as controller, authorises Anthropic, PBC as a sub-processor for those features. You are responsible for the prompts you send and for how you use the answers. AI output is generated and may be wrong; check it against the cited metric or query before relying on it.

On a self-hosted installation, AI features call Anthropic only when the operator configures an Anthropic API key, under the operator's own agreement with Anthropic.

Do not load data that you are not allowed to hold, or card numbers or other data you do not need for analytics.

05Acceptable use

Do not:

  • try to reach another workspace's data, probe the service for weaknesses, or get around plan limits;
  • use the service for anything unlawful or to infringe anyone's rights;
  • use it for fraud or spam, upload malware, or scrape the service;
  • overload the service or interfere with other customers;
  • resell or sublicense the service, or use it to build a competing product.

06Plans, trial and read-only mode

Every workspace starts with a 14-day trial; no card is needed. There is no free plan. When the trial ends the workspace becomes read-only until you choose a plan: you can still open dashboards, run queries and export, but nothing can be created, edited or loaded, and scheduled loads pause. Nothing is deleted.

The paid plans are Starter ($99 a month or $990 a year), Growth ($399 a month or $3990 a year), Business ($999 a month or $9990 a year). Row, member, source and refresh limits for each are on the Pricing page. A yearly plan costs ten months for twelve. Each member beyond a plan's number costs $12 a month or $120 a year. If a subscription lapses, the workspace becomes read-only in the same way.

07Payment

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders. Paddle sells the subscription to you, takes payment, issues invoices, collects and remits any taxes, and handles billing enquiries and refunds. The Paddle Buyer Terms at paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms apply to the payment itself. Prices are in US dollars and exclude VAT, GST and sales taxes, which are added on top at checkout according to where you are billed. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. We will give at least 30 days' notice before a price increase applies to you.

08Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from Manage billing on the Billing page and keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds follow our Refund policy, including a full refund on request within 30 days of your first payment, unless a separate written Enterprise agreement sets different refund terms.

09Availability and support

We work to keep Vantage by Bytefount available and your data safe, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Support is by email at support@bytefount.com; the Business plan includes priority support. Single sign-on is available on the Business plan on request and is included in Enterprise.

10Suspension and ending

You can stop using Vantage by Bytefount at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, does not pay, or puts the service or other customers at risk of fraud or a security incident, telling you why unless the law prevents it, and we will give you a chance to export your data first unless that would cause harm.

11Disclaimer and liability

Apart from what these terms say, Vantage by Bytefount is provided as it is, without warranties, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

12Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Please contact us first so we can try to settle any dispute informally.

13Changes and contact

We may update these terms. We will publish the new version here and email workspace owners at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use Vantage by Bytefount after that means you accept it. Questions: support@bytefount.com.

Version 1.2 (20 October 2026) names Paddle.com as our reseller and merchant of record, and extends the refund window to 30 days.

Version 1.1 (18 October 2026) adds Anthropic, PBC as a sub-processor for optional AI features. AI stays off in every workspace until an owner or admin turns it on. A workspace that does not want Anthropic, PBC as a sub-processor can keep AI off (it is off by default), turn it off at any time under AI, or write to support@bytefount.com.
